Daniel Rensing never thought that the classes he took in high school would have put him on the path he's on today. After moving from NY and settling in Florida with his wife Stephanie, Daniel began DG Design and Print Company. He'd received a degree in computer graphics and design, but didn’t graduate with just a degree, He graduated with the foundation for all of current businesses. Many ask how Daniel went from making logos and business cards to selling cupcake towers and pre-cut parchment paper. There's actually a clear connection. With computer graphic knowledge and access to some small production equipment (vinyl plotter and industrial heat press), Daniel was able to easily make the first prototype for the Smart Baker's "Cheat Sheet Apron" and next, cupcake and treat towers.
By working in the sign industry, Daniel learned how to operate a CNC router which is what is used to produce his product displays. Learning how to operate these machines and the software that goes along with them was essential for Daniel and the impetus for him in bringing The Smart Baker's products to market.
Learning a new skill is one thing. Having the drive, passion and most importantly the work ethic is something different. Daniel credits his love of business and entrepreneurship to two people: His grandfather and his dad. Back in 1955, Daniel's grandfather started the a family business in electronic components. DanieI grew up working in this business, along side his dad where he found out what it takes to run a business. Truly starting from the ground up, Daniel swept floors, cleaned bathrooms, restocked shipping cartons and pretty much did anything and everything a 12 year old could manage. All of these little jobs began to establish his work ethic as he saw early on that no job the needs doing is too small.
Daniel feels that the best part of being an entrepreneur is belonging to a community of hardworking business men and women, like-minded, goal oriented people who all have their areas of expertise and knowledge.
